Avalon Top 4: Upcoming NC Festivals in 2021

Spring is in full swing at Avalon, which means warmer weather, longer days, and multiple festivals you can enjoy in the great outdoors! And Western North Carolina is no stranger to big events, ranging from craft art shows to cultural celebrations and everything in between.

We put together a list of our top five upcoming spring and fall NC festivals taking place right down the street from the Avalon gates. Take a look and mark your calendars for the ones that you know you can’t miss!*

 

Art After Dark
When: May–December, Every First Friday
Where: Waynesville, NC
Whether you’re a collector of fine art or just enjoy perusing, Art After Dark is the place for you. Enjoy artistic demonstrations, gallery exhibits, refreshments, and live music while venturing through the local galleries in Waynesville, NC.

Maggie Valley Arts and Craft Shows
When: July 10–11, September 4–5, October 16–17
Where: Maggie Valley, NC
Taking place through the summer and early fall, this arts and craft show is “Maggie Valley’s largest gathering of artisans and crafters.” Check out fine art, chainsaw sculptures, local handcraft items, and more, all while enjoying good company and delicious festival food.

2021 Folkmoot Ethnic Festival
When: July 22–25
Where: Haywood County, NC
Celebrate the diversity of cultures at the Folkmoot Ethnic Festival. Featuring dancers, music, and other performances, this event is an annual opportunity to gain a deeper appreciation for the rich traditions from our own backyard and across the country.

Apple Harvest Festival
When: October 16
Where: Downtown Waynesville
How about these apples? Organized by the Haywood Chamber of Commerce, the Apple Harvest Festival kicks off fall with one of the season’s most popular (and versatile) fruits. Shop for bushels from local apple growers or try one of the many apple-themed treats available in this open-air downtown festival.
